  2. How do I use this program?
  3. --------------------------

  5. The IDL Demo may be started by typing "demo" 
  6. at the IDL prompt:
  7.  
  8.    IDL> demo
  9.  
  10.  
  11. The IDL demo may also be started by typing 
  12. "idldemo" at the UNIX shell or VMS DCL prompt:
  13.  
  14.    $ idldemo
  15.  
  16. or by double-clicking on the "IDL Demo" icon on 
  17. the Macintosh or Windows platforms. Running the 
  18. demo outside of IDL will bypass the license 
  19. manager, avoiding time limitations.

  21. On VMS, you must install IDL in order to run the
  22. IDL demo; you cannot run it from the CD-ROM.

  28. This program serves as a demonstration of the 
  29. capabilities and features of IDL, the Interactive 
  30. Data Language. IDL is data analysis, visualization, 
  31. and application development software developed by 
  32. Research Systems, Inc.

  35. Where do I find example code?

  38. Look in the RSI distribution under 
  39. IDL50/examples/demo/. The RSI distribution can be 
  40. renamed during installation.
